An influential Republican leader in the Alabama Senate blundered away on Tuesday when he referred to blacks as “aborigines” ( the earliest population of a region) on recordings played during a federal gambling corruption trial.

Sen. Scott Beason of Gardendale said his racial slurs “were careless and unnecessary” and he wants to set things right. In the meantime the Democrats said he must resign as chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, even though the Republican Caucus said he must stay on board. Many European countries so far established the necessary regulatory mechanisms whilst others are thinking of it. Not only do these mechanisms differ but some of them are not in compliance with the European Union’s (EU) provisions.

To introduce its latest publication RGA used EiG expo recently held in Milan as a launch pad, a guide titled “Online Gambling: Key objectives for a successful regulatory and tax framework”. Massachusetts House Poker Amendment Nod

Republican Representative Daniel Winslow made an amendment to a bill that aims to develop land based gambling in the state of Massachusetts. With 123 votes against 32 the bill was passed in the House. eGaming experts warned that there’s nothing to cheer about at this stage. It is only the first step hurdle that’s been removed in a tedious process.

The vote in the Massachusetts Senate is the next step; on the 26th of September legalization issues will be addressed. The internet poker amendment that if it is dropped by the Senate, will most probably not be included in conference, which seeks to weed-out any irregularities between the versions of the bills passed in the House and in the Senate. Afterward Governor Deval Patrick must then sign it into law.

The law dictates that the Massachusetts gaming commission must establish a committee to analyze and develop recommendations and model legislation …

EC Favors Internet Gambling in Denmark

The European Commission (EC) ruled in favor of Denmark’s internet gambling proposal by dismissing the complaints lodged against it. The Danish land casino and the Danish slot machine association initially filed the complaints.

The gist of the complaint was that they were paying gross gaming revenue taxes in excess of 45% and 71%, whilst licensed operators only pay 20%. They felt this breached State Aid rules. The EC dismissed the complaint and stated the following, “This is because the positive effects of the liberalization of the sector outweigh potential distortions of competition.”

The good news is that the Danish internet gambling proposal will be written into the law books as of the 1st of January, 2012. From this date the first licenses will become operational. Two different licenses could be used by internet casinos. The first type is for internet and offline sports betting such as fixed, pool, spread and …
