Moneybookers Changes Name To Skrill

In the online gambling industry Moneybookers is hailed by many as one of the premier electronic payment solutions. The e-wallet recently changed its name to Skrill because of re-branding. The name Skrill sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie.  Moneybookers took a holistic approach and decided the time was ripe for a “new look”.

The name Skrill is a vernacular word for money, cash or “dough”. In essence one must not be mislead by the name, on the contrary Skrill endeavours to be a secure and inventive way for internet gamblers to register accounts at internet casinos. The idea is to give players more freedom, alternatives, dependability, expediency and composure. As always there is still a lot to be done before the implementation of Skrill. The changeover Moneybookers scheduled for Skrill will only be effected at the end of 2011. The first to upgrade to Skrill would be Moneybookers …

Global Gaming Expo Eyes The Future

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) – The city’s biggest conference has just begun and it’s taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.

New casino games and technology tops the list to be introduced at The Global Gaming Expo (G2E), the primary focus of this year’s convention get-together will be on the future of internet casinos and the current global economy and how it may impact on the gaming industry as a whole.

Irrespective of the yearly G2E conference taking place in Las Vegas, a large proportion of casino games are purchased not only in the U.S but in other parts of the world as well. For manufacturers this might bode good news, however, one still wonders if clients from other parts of the globe are snatching much needed business from Las Vegas.

“The substantial increase in the gaming industry in general around the globe is great news for Las Vegas. …

Baccarat Popularity Increases Las Vegas

To be honest there are few casino games that are more nerve-racking than baccarat. Played predominantly by the royalty in Europe during the 13th century, the game in itself has been “immortalised” by suave heroes such as James Bond in blockbuster movies such as “Dr. No” and “Casino Royale.”

Baccarat has always been shrouded in an air of mystery and yet it’s one of the easiest games to master.  The aim of the game is to get as close as possible to the “number 9”. In other words the two-or three-card hand closest to the nine wins, not including face cards and “10” cards valued zero.

Modern day baccarat played in the US and various other countries don’t necessitate much skill. The supposed incongruity sandwiched between sophistication and ease explains the success baccarat has achieved of late in Las Vegas’ majestic resorts, intended to cultivate players’ escapist fantasies.

Baccarat has …

U.S Lame-Duck Session Kicks-Off

Across the U.S millions of online gamblers are waiting anxiously as events unfold within the next few weeks when lawmakers in Washington will add the finishing touch to U.S laws in 2010. On Monday in congress the lame duck season kicked-off, giving internet poker players a glimmer of hope.

The present laws pertaining to internet gambling in the U.S is chiefly the product of the lame-duck session as far back as 2006.  The Republican majority has implemented the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) following a border protection bill to outlaw internet gambling in America.

Hopefully the Democrats in the House and Senate can turn the tables in favour of internet gambling and Representative Barney Frank’s internet gambling legislation will survive the day.  2011 will start in favour of the Republicans as they gain control of the House.

Assuming no legislation is passed, a bill that will regulate and control …

Chilligaming Mocks Current U.S Gambling Laws

Online gambling is still being outlawed by the U.S government, in stark contrast to other countries where the billion dollar internet gambling industry is regulated.  As the outlaw of it still rages on, Chilligaming is on the verge of indicating just how preposterous the present US laws are.

ChiliPoker is set to start gaining revenue from US internet poker players sometime in 2011. The site manages as a subscription-based website, in other words poker players will pay a monthly fee, then participate in tournaments where cash and prizes are given out to the winners. This mode of gambling has been tried in the U.S before and it has not been very successful.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) of 2006 does not ostracise internet gambling.  Importantly no cash would change hands at the poker tables at ChiliPoker in the US, as a result the subscription service appears to be above-board …

Gambling Not A Sin?

Australia’s most senior catholic cleric has declared THOU shalt gamble, thou shalt smoke and thou shalt sell arms.

Speaking about moral values at a business lunch hosted by Notre Dame University, Cardinal George Pell recommended it might be to some extent be phony for the Catholic Church to denounce gambling absolute, given the current increase of poker machines in NSW Catholic clubs.

”To be honest I do feel rather ill at ease about it,” he admitted. ”Strictly speaking I’m an Irish Australian and we grew up gambling.” In itself gambling is not essentially wrong, he said.  Only when it becomes an obsession, in other words when it starts to impact on yourself and your family, it then constitutes a sin.

Warming to the forum’s theme ”God and Mammon: need or greed in the big end of town”, Cardinal Pell said taking into account the ethics of the sale of tobacco, …

Internet Mobile Gambling Rises

According to analysts the mobile internet gaming industry is still in its infancy, the market is set to grow exponentially within the next four years.

To date this segment of the market has seen slow development ascribed mainly to the uncertainties about future gambling regulations currently facing internet gambling operators. Many online casinos are venturing into this segment of the market adding mobile platforms to their casino base as well.

“Director of H2 Gambling Capital a consulting and research firm based in London, Simon Holliday said, “we are aggressively exploiting the potential market that mobile devices might offer us”.  A fair amount of European companies have boosted their incomes by 15 percent this source, particularly those with iPhone, iPad or Android applications.”

American Wagering Inc. Is set to take the U.S the mobile market by storm, it introduced its first application for its Leroy’s Sports Book monopoly. On Wednesday, International Game Technology …

Quebecers Are Huge Internet Gamblers

Approximately 86,000 adult Quebecers spend on average $9,903 every year gambling online.

According to a report done by an independent academic study released yesterday, it concluded -as Lotto-Quebec ramps up provision to introduce its own brand of internet casino gambling before Christmas to compete with a surplus of offshore and unregulated sites. The majority of Quebec’s internet gamblers are unmarried males under the age of 44 with a more distinct liking for puffing pot in comparison to other gamblers, the study pointed out.

Gamblers who steer clear of internet gambling spend a far lower average of $527 per year, added the first phase of the large-scale, and provincially financed report.  Results are based on a telephone assessment of 11,888 Quebecers during summer 2009, with interviews lasting as long as 12 minutes.  Nearly a third of internet gamblers -32.9 per cent acknowledged the use of cannabis.  That compares with 11.3 per …
